HOPE’S HOME LONG-TIME PARTNER AFFINITY CREDIT UNION DONATES A $250,000 GIFT FOR SASKATOON MEDICALLY INCLUSIVE CHILD CARE CENTER

As the only medically inclusive child care center in Canada, Hope’s Home provides care where kids with complex medical and typical needs learn, grow and thrive. With on-site nurses that provide medical care to children, Hope’s Home is a national leader filling a gap that exists in child and infant healthcare. Since 2005, Hope’s Home has been supporting families outside of a hospital setting in Regina, Warman and Prince Albert.

To continue providing the best care for children with complex medical needs across Saskatchewan, Hope’s Home launched the “There’s No Place Like Hope” capital campaign, with an $8 million fundraising goal to open Saskatoon’s first medically inclusive child care center in 2024.

As a charitable organization, Hope’s Home seeks to partner with like-minded organizations that believe in making a difference in our communities. Affinity, who is a long-standing partner of Hope’s Home is donating a $250,000 gift to fund an inclusive indoor gym at the new Saskatoon Center.

“Affinity heard the Hope’s Home story, listened to parents and recognized the need for medically inclusive child care in our communities. We are excited to partner with them to bring this need to Saskatoon and strengthen our cause to care for the most vulnerable children” said Jacqueline Tisher, Founder and CEO of Hope’s Home.

"Hope's Home is truly a one-of-a-kind organization – it has become an integral part of several Saskatchewan communities. Its expansion into another area in our province means they'll not only provide more support to children with complex medical needs, but also to their families. We've partnered with Hope's Home since its inception because the medically inclusive child care gap they've filled is what supporting local is all about," said Mark Lane, CEO of Affinity Credit Union

The inclusive gym will be a space for all kids to play together, ensuring every child feels included. Many of the kids at Hope’s Home cannot be outside in extreme weather conditions due to their medical conditions, making an inclusive indoor space essential for open-ended play and encouraging imagination and discovery. This space will also include equipment pieces that help develop a child’s gross motor skills, allowing it to be used for physiotherapy.

The new Saskatoon location will feature two separate centers caring for 144 kids ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. Spaces will be held for kids with complex medical needs making this center an extension of pediatric healthcare.  On-site nursing care, early childhood educators, developmental workers, and physical development consultants will provide Saskatoon families with a safe and inclusive environment where children receive the care they need.
