Our Democratic Process

Spring’s the season of rebirth – the weather warms up, snow starts melting, and a new class of Affinity district council delegates is elected.

The election process starts with nominations. If you, or someone you know, would make a great representative for our members, your first step is to submit nomination papers. This generally happens in January.

Nominations are followed by elections where Affinity members vote for the delegates who’ll represent their district.

Following the elections, delegates meet together in their district councils and they elect the Affinity Board of Directors from their ranks. The election process wraps up with our Annual General Meeting, where we introduce the new Board. This generally happens in April.

Our delegates serve 3-year terms, so each year it’s likely only a third of our delegates will come up for re-election.
