Deposit Anywhere™ is a new service that allows members to securely deposit cheques using the camera on their Apple or Android device from wherever they may be. It’s simple - login, take a picture of the cheque while making sure the cheque is fully visible, and confirm. Deposit complete!

Deposit Anywhere™ is part of the Affinity Credit Union’s latest mobile banking app version, Affinity Mobile for Apple. The devices that will support the most current app are:
- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5
- iPad 3
- iPad 4
- iPad Mini
You must also have iOS 4.3 or later on your device (iOS 7 is supported).
Note – if you have Version 4.3.X on your iOS device and have a lot of other Apps open, you may experience some issues with memory for cheque image loading in Deposit Anywhere. If you experience these issues, we recommend that you upgrade to a current iOS Version in order to alleviate this.

You must have Android 2.3 or higher on your device.
Once you have Affinity Mobile for Apple or Android downloaded onto your mobile device, login, then:
- Select Deposit Anywhere™
- Capture an image with your phone of the front and the back of the cheque
- Select the account into which you’d like to deposit your cheque
- Enter the amount of the cheque
- Select Deposit Cheque.
- Write onto the back of the cheque “Deposited via Mobile Banking, (date)” and keep it for 90 days.
- Repeat this process for any additional deposit items
Frequently Asked Questions
Instead of mailing, bringing in deposits to a Affinity Credit Union branch or depositing at an ATM, you can use Deposit Anywhere™ anytime and anywhere convenient for you. By using the Affinity Mobile app and the camera on your device, an image of the cheque is the method of deposit to your online banking account.
Deposit Anywhere™ is free at this time; deposits made to a business account using Deposit Anywhere™ do not have a per item charge. Although Affinity Credit Union does not currently charge for the service, members may be subject to fees from their wireless carrier.
Deposit Anywhere™ is safe and secure. Your mobile banking transactions to Affinity Credit Union are protected and confidential. Cheque images are not stored on your device and are purged once the transaction is complete to prevent visibility of your personal information if the device is lost or stolen. Public and free Wi-Fi connections should not be used for banking transactions; for enhanced security we recommend that you use your provider’s secure internet connection. While we do include many security features in our mobile banking app, we do recommend on Android devices that you do banking transactions on, that you should also install an anti-malware solution from a reputable software company in the Google Play Store.
If you aren’t already, you need to become registered as an online banking user and log in for the first time. You will need to go into your branch or contact Teleservice to be setup for On-line Banking. Once you have access to Online Banking and have logged in and completed all the security requirements, you will also have access to Mobile Banking.
Get the app. If you have an iPhone® or iPad® with iOS 4.3 or later, download from the App Store by searching for Affinity Credit Union. Select the app icon, tap Free, then tap again when it changes to Install. When prompted, enter your App Store credentials. Alternatively, download the app from a computer that has iTunes installed: from within iTunes, search for Affinity Credit Union and download. You’ll need to sync your Apple device to transfer the app from your computer. If you have one of the supported Android devices listed above, download the app from the Google Play Store by searching for Affinity Mobile, select the app icon, then click Install.
At this time the following iOS and Android devices are supported by our mobile banking app, which the Deposit Anywhere™ service is a part of. Current iOS eligible devices are iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 3, iPad 4, and iPad Mini. Minimum operating system is iOS 4.3. Current Android eligible devices are Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy SIII, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Galaxy SII, HTC One, LG Optimus G and Nexus 4 with a minimum operating system of 2.3.
While we are asking for permissions during the download process, like accessing your hardware controls for camera use and determining your location, we do not use this information for anything other than to make our mobile app work more effectively for you. By determining your location, we are able to find the closest available Affinity branch or Acculink ATM or AIS insurance agency for you to use and by accessing your camera, you are able to use the functionality for remote deposit capture (Deposit Anywhere™) giving you the ability to deposit cheques to your account using your mobile device. We do understand your concern, but want to assure you that we are not using the information for any other purposes other than to provide you with the best mobile banking experience that we can. Your privacy and security is of utmost importance to us.

7. When a deposit is made using the mobile banking app, is the money available for me to use right away?
The deposit will be seen immediately in your account activity but will not be included in the available balance. Similar to deposits at an ATM or in the branch, there are often holds on deposit items and the funds require time to clear. Holds can also be extended for a variety of reasons (e.g. stale date, post-date, chargeback). If you want to know when the money will be available, please call TeleService at 1-866-863-6237.
No, each cheque must be deposited separately. Once the deposit is confirmed and accepted, you will receive a receipt confirmation message that it was successfully posted to the account. You will then have the option to deposit another cheque.
Only Canadian dollar cheques can be deposited, and only into accounts located in Canada. The ability to deposit US dollar cheques drawn on US financial institutions, or US Dollar cheques drawn on Canadian financial institutions, is being developed and will be available at a future date.

11. Is there a dollar limit per individual cheque deposit, a daily deposit limit or maximum number of cheques that can be deposited per day?
There is no deposit dollar limit. Only one cheque can be deposited at a time. There is no daily limit on the number of Deposit Anywhere™ transactions.
No. Signing into the mobile banking app effectively serves as your digital endorsement.
After depositing a cheque via Deposit Anywhere™, you should write “Deposited via Mobile Banking, date” on the back of your cheque. This will serve as a reminder it’s been done to prevent future accidental duplicate deposits. Store the cheque safely for 90 days as proof of transaction, and destroy it within 120 days. You are not required to mail in the physical cheque.
You have the opportunity to review details and make changes on the deposit confirmation screen before submitting. We also double-check information of the deposit to ensure the right amount is entered and if it is not, you are asked to resubmit the deposit via the mobile app by using the correct amount. Deposits made using Deposit Anywhere™ will be in the account activity listing of the app. The Canadian Payments Association (CPA) requires that cheque images be purged after the transaction is complete to prevent access to personal information if the device is lost or stolen.
Cheques deposited are ineligible for re-deposit. You will need to request another cheque from the payor.

September 20, 2013: At Affinity Credit Union, we’re excited about the new Apple iOS 7 platform released yesterday. We had tested the Affinity Mobile app with a beta release of iOS 7 to confirm key functionality, including Deposit Anywhere. However, a change in the final released version of iOS 7 has resulted in the Deposit Anywhere feature in the current version of our app being non-functional. We are currently testing a fix for this issue, and expect to provide an updated version of the Affinity Mobile app sometime next week.
We appreciate your patience in the interim, and would advise members using the Deposit Anywhere feature to wait until this new version is released before upgrading to iOS 7. Thank you for your patience and continuing support.
