Hope's Home
Affinity Credit Union is proud to partner with Hope's Home in Regina, the first medical day care in Canada providing community service for medically fragile children and their families.
Staffed with nurses, developmental workers and early childhood educators, Hope's Home cares for 22 children who require constant specialized nursing care that involves tracheotomies, gastric tube feeds and seizure disorders.
Melanie Kohlruss, President of Hope's Home and the mother of a six-year-old son with high medical needs, said: "Parent can now leave their children in good hands for a few hours or longer during the day while they attend to other responsibilities."
Until Hope's Home opened, Melanie and her husband planned to alternate taking a year of leave from their jobs with no pay in order to care for their son. "It would have been a huge economic pitfall for our family as there are a lot of medical expenses, trips out of the province and surgeries," she said.
"Thanks to Affinity Credit Union, this is no longer necessary. Many thanks for helping us realize our dream of opening this facility which we hope will be the first of many across the province."
