Protecting Your Accounts
- Keep blank cheques, cancelled cheques and account statements in a safe place.
- Use direct deposit and electronic debit facilities to cut down on the paperwork on your account.
- Destroy any cheques and deposit or withdrawal slips, written with errors. Avoid making corrections; simply start again.
- Write cheques with indelible ink.
- If your statements are late, contact your financial institution immediately.
- Regularly check your statements and balances to verify all transactions have been properly documented. If entries do not accurately reflect transaction activities, for example, if there are missing or additional transactions, you should contact Affinity immediately.
