Governance
Local ownership and governance is the foundation of Affinity Credit Union. Members elect delegates to the District Council, and District Councils appoint directors to the Affinity Board of Directors.
Approach:
- A district based approach to representation
- Directors are appointed by district
- All Districts have District Councils to ensure further local participation in the affairs of the credit union
Board members will play a vital role in determining organizational strategy and in guiding the operations of the new credit union.

Elect |

- Vote for Council Members in their Region or “at large” in their District
- Attend and exercise their voting rights at the Annual General Meetings of Affinity
- Attend and provide feedback at District Information meetings
- Cause the removal of Council Members and/or Directors or bring Resolutions forward by following the protocol required for calling a special membership meeting

District Councils
- minimum of one rep from each region within the District
- staggered three year terms

Elect

- Appoint Directors from their District
- Decide, within bylaw specifications, on the number and location of council members in their region
- Have final authority on rights of any new credit union partners.
- Play a role in the decision making process for any material adjustments to the Districts’ delivery model.
- Participate in joint District Council annual planning and development sessions.

- Have all of the duties and obligations of a traditional board with the exception of community giving which is delegated to the District Councils.
- Share authority with the District Councils with regard to acceptance of new CU partners.
